About The Author

Juan Buade

“I wrote this book inspired by my experiences as a 6-year-old leaving Cuba for Spain, and later the United States, during the administration of President Jimmy Carter. My story is about survival, transition, and the fight for freedom. It is about how my family, though poor, endured life in Cuba, Spain, and America, and the many people who helped us along the way. I want this book to be a reminder of what happens when freedom is lost and how important it is to protect it.”
